New Masterclass unit

This education unit has been developed for all nurses working in the community e.g. in nursing homes or as district nurses or practice nurses. This education unit currently has two stages. The content of the unit includes the functions and dietary sources of macronutrients and micronutrients and the current recommended requirements; key processes involved in the digestion and absorption of nutrients; risk factors for malnutrition in the community; the consequences of malnutrition for individuals and the health service; the concepts of nutrition for public health and nutrition as treatment. It requires about 15 hours of study. The unit has been developed with an educational grant from Nestlé Healthcare Nutrition
